The Annual Inter House Sports Meet was held during the first term in February of 2019. Students who excelled at this event were chosen for the Circuit and Provincial Meets. They continued to impress at these events too and were chosen for the All-Island Athletic Meet and John Tarbat Meet. Both these meets were held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colomo.
Athletic practices are also held on weekdays after school to which a large number of students actively take part.

Chess training programmes are conducted every Mondays and Tuesdays. A large number of students participate in practice sessions.
It is noteworthy to mention that our Chess team comprised of all the age categories took part in District Level, Provincial Level and All Island Level and have performed remarkably well both individually and in team events.
The Badulla District Youth Chess Championship Tournament was held at S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela. Thirteen competitors were selected to participate in the Youth Chess Championship finals held from the 27th tot eh 30th of December 2019 at Vishaka College, Colombo and performed remarkably well.
The most significant achievement of 2019 was that six players were able to get into the International Ratings.

Tennis and Junior Tennis continues to inspire ta number of students in the College despite not being one of frontline sports in the county or College.
It is also pleasing to note that many students from the Primary school actively take part in practices which are held both at eh College and at the Bandarawela Tennis Club.
Young Chanith Minthaka De Silva continues to bring credit to the College by his outstanding performances during the year in review. At present he is placed in the top five in the Under 16 and Under 18 Tennis rankings in the island.

The Table Tennis team participated in Zonal Table Tennis Tournaments held at S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela and the Under 17 and 20 teams were able to become Champions. At the All Island Table Tennis Tournament held at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia the Under 18 B Division and Under 12 E Division were ranked third place. The Public Services Club of Bandrawela conducted a Table Tennis Tournament and our school became Champions in all age groups.
Dinula Attanayake became Champion in the All Island Schools’ Under 8 and in the International Private Schools Under 8 age groups.
We were able to obtain the services of a National coach and the coach at Trinity College for several coaching camps. Students from grade one onwards participated in these camps.
S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela conducted the Uva Province Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship for which teams from 15 schools participated. Our College became Champions in all age groups.
Savith Basnayake became Champion in the Under 18, Under 21, Open Men’s (Singles) Open Men’s (Doubles) and Open (Mix Doubles) at the Zonal Schools’ Table Tennis Tournament. Adeesha Thilakarane became the Under 15 runner up in the tournament organized by the Public Services’ Club of Bandarawela.

The College was honoured with the appointment of the Headmaster, Revd. Christopher Balraj as the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association
The Under 15 “B” Division Badminton Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association was held in Galle and our team were qualified to play at the Semi Final Level.
Our College team won the Provincial Championship in the tournament organized by the Uva Provincial Ministry of Sports at the College Indoor Stadium on the 11th of May 2019.
In another competition held at the same venue, the College Under 17 and Under 20 teams became Provincial Champs.
The Annual Junior Badminton Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association was held on the 27th and 28th of September 2019.
The College Under 15, 17 and 19 won the Championships in the Singles Category while the Under 15 and 19 players won the Doubles Championship. They finally were qualified to play in the Grand Final which will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium from the 13th to the 18th of January 2020.
The Master-in-charge of the College Badminton Team, Mr. Thilak Jayasiri was elected a Vice President for a tenure of 4 years.
The Under 13 tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Badminton Association was held in Kandy. Out of the two teams participated, one team was qualified to play in the semi-finals.
The Annual SLA Ratnayake Memorial Badminton Tournament was postponed from the 21st of April to the 17th of December due to an unexpected incident. The College team was qualified to play in the Semi Finals.
The College Master-in-charge Mr. T. Jayasiri created history when he was appointed as the Manager of the National Badminton team that took part in the SAAF Games 2019 which was able to win 9 Medals including one Gold. The College obliged to provide training facilities at the College from the 19th to the 24th of November.
Coach Mahesh Ekanayaka rendered his services and trained our players from August to December 2019.

Ravien Dalpatadu who continues his performance has been most significant among all of who participated in the Youth Olympic Games 18 held in Argentina and ranked 2nd in the Asian Region and 6th in the world. In 2019 he represented the country in the World Archery Championship in Netherlands

The Under 16, 18 and 20 teams were placed Champions at the Zonal Meet and all three teams played up to pre quarter finals at the Provincial Meet.
The W.T. Keble Memorial Trophy was played and the Under 15 team lost the match by 0-1 goals while the Under 17 team was able to win the match by 3-2 goals. We retained the trophy for the 4th time.

24 students of Grade 5 and 6 participated in the Uva Province Futsal Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Futsal Association. The “A” Team were able to perform up to the pre-quarter finals and were able to be the group champions. The Team played 5 matches and won 4.

At present, there are around 43 Junior players and around 50 Senior players who attend regular practices which are held after school and during weekends. These players had the opportunity of taking part in a number of tournaments and some of the major tournaments are as follows.
Under 12 Ritzbury Super 6 Championship held at Royal College Grounds Colombo.
Under 25 All Island Milo Division II Tournament All Island Bowl Champions.

The Under 13 A Team played four matches in the first round and won all four matches. They qualified for the second round and played 3 matches and won two matchs and qualified for the third round.
The Under 13 B Team played four matches in the first round won three matches add they qualified for the second round. In the second round they played three matches and won two and qualified for the third round.
The Under 15 Cricket Team took part in the All Island Inter School Cricket Tournament 2019 and played Seven matches and won Four. Three ended up in a draw. Methwin Rajapaksha has been selected to the Provincial Team and Risara Wickramasinghe, Seminda Karunathilaka and Esitha Gimhana were selected to the District Team.
The Under 17 Cricket Team played Three matches in the 1st round and won all Three. In the 2nd round they played Four matches and won Three. In this tournament the Under 17 Team scored a record breaking 489 runs in a 50 over match. Savith Basnayaka scoring 155, Supun Seneviratne scoring 114 and N.M. Mafas scoring 105 runs.

The College Karate team is working hard with dedication and the achievements of 2019 were remarkable. Our team participated in the 11th Open South Asian Karate Championship 2019 which was held in Ratnapura and won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
At the 12th Asian Karate Championship which was held in Colombo our students were able to win Gold and Silver medals.
Many of our students have been selected to represent the school in the Tournaments organized by the Uva Province Karate-Do-Federation.

Wushu was introduced as a new sport to the College. This is a martial art and a sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts. Sport Wushu is categorized into two main categories namely Taolu (Routine competition) and Sanda (Free Fighting Competition with protections equipment). Wushu does not only develop a strong body but also a strong mind with high moral values as its practice focuses on martial ethics.
Training sessions are conducted every Tuesdays and Wednesdays and approximately 45 studnets have joined the Wushu team.
After completing training, students will be presented for events at the College functions, District, Provincial and National Level Tournaments. Our main gold is to make a healthy, active and disciplined sportsman.
The College Wushu Team participated in the 2019 Uva Province School Wushu Championship held at the Bandarawela Municipal Council Hall conducted by the School Wushu Association and won 4 Gold and 5 Bronze Medals.
8 players participated in the All Island School Wushu Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Wushu Association held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
This year the Under 15 team participated in the Inter House Sports Meet Wushu Competition (Taolu event).
The "Sanda" players took part in the Sports Festival Meet conducted by the Ministry of Sports and Uva Province Wushu Association held at the Badulla Simon Pieris Indoor Stadium for the first time.

Around 30 students actively take part in swimming practices. Most of them attend practices at the Diyatalawa Military Academy while others attend practices privately. It is in this regard we sincerely hope the upcoming project of a swimming pool at the College would become a reality.
Gaveesha Himaranga, Thisantha Perera and Isuru Udana continue to inspire in their events while they actively take part in many events. The College relay team also took part in an Open event organized by S. Thomas’ College, Gurutalawa where they emerged victorious.
